The term ‘fast fashion’ has been floating around a lot lately, referring to inexpensive clothing that is rapidly produced and disseminated en masse. What is becoming more popular is the emphasis of buying better quality clothing that is also sustainable. This doesn’t mean you can’t look trendy and fab, simply that you should pay a bit more attention to where and how your clothing is produced. Here are a few ways in which you can fight fast fashion:
• Less but Better- instead of buying lesser quality items more often, try purchasing better quality that will last longer
• Actively Seek Ethically Produced Products- find brands that are more eco-friendly and environmentally conscious
• Ask #WhoMadeMyClotes- this is a trending hashtag and movement that was prevalent during the last Fashion Revolution Week
It is time for consumers to take responsibility for what they are buying. If there is more of a demand for ethically produced, high quality items, then there will be reason for that type of practice to grow and you can help.
